Evie's 3 year checkup

Evie turned 3 back in June, but we weren't very timely with scheduling her 3 year checkup so we finally just had it yesterday. We're happy to report that she is a whopping 25.5 pounds! That's the 3rd percentile, for those who keep score. She's 20th in height though. The doctor thought she looked great and everything is on track. No shots this year so we avoided that thankfully. We took this opportunity to tell Evie the doctor told her to drink more milk since she's not a big fan of milk (much like her mama!).

At 3, Evie is a chatterbox! Well, she was a chatterbox way before 3, but she's definitely not as shy now.   She LOVES to sing - everything from Doe-a-Deer (she mastered that before our Hawaii trip in May) to Frozen songs. She is into all things princess and her favorites are Anna from Frozen, Cinderella, Belle and Brave (she always forgets that the princess name is Merida). Favorite colors are pink and green. She can write her name (not always in the right letter order though) and a few other letters and can read numbers to 9. Her favorite foods are mac n cheese. eggs over easy (she loves the runny yolk and thinks it's sauce!) and frozen blueberries. She loves her "stuffies", especially Lambie and Baby.

She's still timid when it comes to trying new adventures. She is still not a big fan of slides. She asks a lot about strangers. She's not really into juice, surprisingly. She still isn't too great with her vegetables but she'll at least take a few bites each night. She's a bit of a mommy's girl. She's getting better at swimming (more in a separate post) but still not comfortable being in the water despite having floaties.

Evie is a real hoot and Scott and I thank our lucky stars everyday we got such a wonderful little girl. She knows to stay in bed until 7, and as soon as it hits 7, she runs into our room every morning and it's one of the best parts of my day to wake up to her happy chatter. I couldn't have asked for a sweeter little girl!

So excited about her Cotton Candy ice cream cone!

Happy new year!!

Goodness, it's already 2025! It's been a really long time since we posted!  We had a very lazy new year. We flew back from LA on the evening of the 31st so spent the last remaining hours of 2024 cozying up on the couch and then fell asleep before it even hit midnight! On New Years day, we slept in, cleaned up the house and then did a quick hike the next day. All in all, a good start to the year! Nora's new blanket hoodie. Cold and muddy trails. We're not in LA anymore! We hiked the Primrose trail that follows Coal Creek.

Eating on the road

With all the COVID restrictions on restaurants and Scott not liking takeout service, we've gotten pretty good at planning meals for days we are out and about. We've basically taken to tailgating... a lot! It is nice though that it means having a hot meal to warm up after a day of playing in the snow and I'm not going to lie - it is also a good excuse to eat instant noodles because it is fast and easy and warming!   For overnight stays, we end up doing instant pot meals like one-pot spaghetti or chili, or easy meals like a cheese plate or sandwiches. It does save on $ so that's definitely nice but man, I can't wait to go out to restaurants again! Beef and barley soup lunch at Mt Baker. Chillin' with Chili at Crystal Mountain. Beautiful but cold picnic in Wenatchee Little girl loving her hot ramen over Blewitt Pass Jook after sledding at Crystale Springs Chicken Noodle Soup in the snow at Salmon Ridge. Pho bowls under the ferry awning at Diablo Lake.

Glass art

We picked up our finished creations from the glass blowing class we took a few weeks ago and I think they came out great! Can you tell who made which one? Nora's sunset pumpkin, May's bluebird and Evie's snow pumpkin.
