Grapefruit

I love that both of my girls like grapefruit! They like to eat it straight with a spoon - no sugar or salt needed. Their favorite part is at the end when they squeeze all the leftover juice and slurp away.

Ski trip

Our first family ski trip to Whistler was a success!  The drive to and from Whistler was actually not bad at all because we broke it up with a meal stop in Vancouver, plus we introduced the girls to Harry Potter on Audible (YAY!). Once there, the condo we rented was in a great location and had an awesome hot tub that everyone enjoyed after a long day of skiing. The friends we went with made for great company. And, most importantly, Evie enjoyed the ski school and can't wait to go again. In fact, she didn't want to take off her skis at the end of the first day and tried to make little bunny hills outside of our condo so she could keep skiing. While she was in school, Nora stayed home with a baby sitter but complained about wanting to go skiing with the big kids. Here's hoping that she'll pick up skiing as fast and as painlessly as her big sis, and we can lots more of these trips! My lunch on Day 1 - a "Peaked" chicken-and-mushroom pot pie. It was to

Something new...

New Year, New Kitchen! Can you spot what's new in this picture, taken in our kitchen? Yep, it's new backsplash! Yep, it's a new Nespresso coffee maker!! Yep, it's a new mug!!! I feel like I came home to a brand new kitchen after the holidays! We had the backslashed changed out while were were gone. I then bought Scott a Nespresso for Christmas (he wanted to make coffee/espresso quickly). And, we put away our old "everyday china" that we got from our wedding registry for cheaper Corelle stuff that's sturdier and lighter so that the kids can now also use them with us. Come visit and see all the new stuff!

Happy 2018!

Just like last year , we celebrated the new year with a party at our friend's the Kriegler's. The kids had an awesome time eating mac n' cheese and even stayed up till about 11pm! The grownups had a delicious grown up meal of beef tenderloin and lots and lots of bubbly. We also all made it to midnight this year, although Scott and Greg crashed pretty much immediately after. Kids table Happy new year! slumber party!  This year, instead of the snow coming to us on New Year's day, we went to the snow! It had snowed her the week before for a beautiful white Christmas (or so I'm told) but by the time we got there, the snow had melted and iced over. The sledding hills were closed so we pulled over to the side and made our own sledding fun! Several other cars stopped along the same road and it ended up being a pretty good time. Nora even got into it this year and was bugging Daddy to go again and again! Pink ball of coziness! who needs a sled w

Merry Christmas, part II

The second half of our Christmas trip was filled with Chinese food and cousin time. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see everyone as much as we'd hoped because Evie got a stomach virus but it was still a good time. The girls are still talking about how much fun they had in LA!  This hungry mungry couldn't wait for dinner and snacked on a turkey drumstick. I think she liked it. Oliver getting ready for dinner. The little kids got to open their gifts first! It was pandemonium! Group shot of the cousins before heading off to bed. The slumber party was a bit chaotic Breakfast time with Ian. The kids table Kids were pooped out after so much fun playing with each other Both of the older kids took naps! Evie doing her writing workbook. Nora loves her Yee Yee! Girls night out! So great to see these ladies! Nora had a special bond with Owen. She loved playing with him. Look at this sweet face! Nora took t

Merry Holidays, Part I

We had another awesome Christmas holiday. As usual, we trekked down to LA and spent a few days with Grammie and Grandpa and then headed over to spend a few days with PohPoh and GoongGoong. Here's some snaps from the first half of the trip. Before we headed out, each girl got to open one gift at home. Clear skies over Mt Rainier! Goofing around in Grammie and Grandpa's orchard. Pick only the ripe ones, Nora!     We checked out the warm-ups at the Santa Anita racetrack  Our annual cookie baking activity was fun. You can never have too many sprinkles Wheeeee! Fun at the park Scott taught Evie how to play checkers and chess All dressed up for Christmas Eve dinner Christmas portrait Getting ready for Santa!
