Scoot Scoots

Now that the weather is nice and the days are long, we've been going to the park a lot after dinner. The girl alternate between going on their scooters and riding their bikes. Scott was borrowing Evie's new Razor scooter that she got for her birthday so often that he ended up getting one for himself. Our nights have turned into family scooter nights! I'm being pressured to get one too! :) Safety first - always ride with a helmet! Taking a break, singing some funny made up song. Wahoo! Scott putting his back into it! Scootering around the skate park Rolling down the hill

Wedding fun

We went to my co-worker, Helen's, wedding this past weekend and had a blast! The weather was beautiful and the venue, Lord Hill Farms in Snohomish, was gorgeous! The bride looked stunning, there was fun stuff for kids like a kids buffet and bubble favors, and we had a fun time boogeying around on the dance floor. It was a fun night! Getting ready for the ceremony! Helen and her dad. The top lace layer of her dress was detachable so she "changed" outfits for the reception! Evie got to sign the guest book. Goofy Nora Dinner shenanigans Beautiful peonies everywhere! I wish I took more pictures (my phone kept jamming) because the flowers were spectacular. Family photo Cheesey heads!

Dance Recital

We had the girls first dance recital this past weekend! After almost an entire year of dance (combo for Evie, princess ballet for Nora), now was the time to finally show off what they'd learned!  All smiles backstage before the show Evie did great. She was super excited for the performance and buzzing around with her friends before the show. We coached Evie on smiling and doing big movements so that people sitting at the bach of the theater could also see her. Considering her bored expressions during school performances, I think she did awesome at this recital! Here's her routine. She's the one all the way on the left: Nora on the other hand.... This little girl did great during the rehearsal, In fact, she was on one of the better behaved of the kids up on stage.      On the day of the performance though, it was another story! Apparently, Nora hurt her hand on a door on the way to the stage and ending up crying and refused to go on. If you ask Evie,

Father's Day

Happy Father's Day, Scott Simpson! We had a fun day celebrating you, and I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!  It started off as a lazaroni day catching up on sleep, work and laundry while the girls had some screentime and played in the piles of (clean) laundry. We headed out to a local chinese place for lunch but got sidelined by signs for a new dumpling restaurant in the same complex and we just HAD to try it! It was interesting and pretty yummy - it was the first time I've ever seen dumplings panfriend in an entire sheet where you can actually eat the "paper" that it's fried on. The girls loved it. Then we headed to the boat. Sadly, the power somehow ran out so the battery was dead on the boat. It ended up being okay because that gave Scott plenty of time to wash the boat (his favorite thing to do!) while we let the fridge get cold again. We made it out onto the lake for about an hour and it was really crowded. The gorgeous weather today (80s, but

Date night

One of my birthday presents from Scott was tickets to see Les Mis when the tour came back into town. He got tickets for the day after Evie's birthday and we figured we could have a date night and the kids would love a night with the babysitter eating mac n cheese and watching TV. Sadly, our sitter bailed at the last minute so guess who was my date tonight? She was the best!  We looked into the orchestra pit during intermission. Actually, our date night started off not too well. Evie is really easily scared and hates any kind of remotely scary or uncomfortable movie and so I shouldn't have been surprised that within 2 minutes of the show starting, she turned to me and said "I don't like it. I want to go home!". I promised her it would get better and then her sit in my lap while I gave her some jelly bellies for being a good sport. I planned on bailing at intermission if she didn't like it but she ended up liking it! YEAH!

Happy Birthday Evie

Wow, 7 years old. It's been a couple years since we hosted a party for Evie, so this year we let her pick something outside of our house with her school buddies. Evie is always making or drawing something so she chose a watercolor class party. Evie and her 8 buddies (plus Nora) painted a pretty outdoor landscape scene with their instructor providing tips along the way. It looked like fun. To top it off we had yummy chocolate cake. I ate way more than any of the kids, including Nora if you can believe it (she ate a small hole into the middle of her piece). After recovering back at home and opening a few more presents, we went out for dinner in Issaquah. Evie chose Greek food for the lemon rice soup. The restaurant wait was long, but it was fun. To top off the evening we went out for a little frozen yogurt. Evie didn't choose any old flavor, she chose POG flavor with candy 'Nerds' sprinkled on top. Nora chose, well, not frozen yogurt... but a purple lollipop! Happy

Sleeping arrangements

Nora's sleeping habits crack me up. When I turn in for the night, I always check in on the girls and will sometimes find her in the funniest positions. Here's a few pictures I took from just these past 2 weeks! And yes, I turn on the lights sometimes because the flash can make for some weird pictures. The girls don't seem to ever notice or wake up.  Both girls clutching a stuffy. I asked Nora about this the next day and she said "it's my baby!" So, there you go. Why is her leg pointed up? How can that be comfortable?! She moved herself to sleep in her closet!  I'm sorry the light woke up Scott but I couldn't pass up taking a picture of Evie snuggled close. When I asked about this the next morning, Evie said Nora asked her to share a pillow. Nora didn't seem to remember that request. Can't tell by the baby or the sippy cup who could have snuggled in and mess up my previously made-up bed!
