no more naps?

We are starting to transition Nora from her naps since she'll be going to Kindergarten in the fall. She insists she doesn't need to nap anymore. Anyway, a few weeks ago, I was looking all over the house for Nora and couldn't find her. After checking her room multiple times and thinking she was hiding from me, I found her napping in the funniest place:

Black eye

Poor Nora still hasn't figured out how not to fall on your head when you trip! She got a black eye at school on Friday from falling down. A week later, the swelling has gone down but it's still a bit yellow and blue. Friday night Saturday morning. She was upset at first she couldn't really open her eye.

Snowmaggedon 2019

The latest snowstorm had been un-officially dubbed Snowmaggedon 2019. Yep, that's how bad they said it was going to be! Cliff Mass, the local weather expert, warned the storm would come in Friday afternoon and have the possibility of dumping DOUBLE the amount of snow the storm earlier this week gave us. He said he was going to stock up and hunker down and guess what happened? Everyone else followed suit and the result was that every grocery store was stocked out. This was a pic of the shelves at Trader Joes on Thursday night. Crazy, right? The cashier told me she's worked at TJ's for 10 years and have never seen anything like it. The funny thing was that it wasn't busy when we were there so everyone had already beat us to the good stuff! Since the storm wasn't supposed to arrive until after lunch and schools were not closed, I opted to go into work. BIG MISTAKE. The flakes started coming down right around 12:30 and they came down FAST. I left at 1pm to pick up

MORE snow!

Wow, this has been a dooooozy of a week for snow here in Seattle. I can't recall it ever being like this in the 10 years we've been here! On Tuesday, there was n o more snow but the roads are super icy because the high didn't get more than low 30s! So, another snow day with no school. We spent the day at home doing crafts, and ventured out for lunch because we were going stir crazy in the house. It started off as painting and quickly dissolved into "making colored water" Sledding is so much fun! Nothing to do inside but read books! Nora, busting a move after her bath.

Snow Day!

Seattle usually gets one or two snow storms blow through each season and this year looked like it was going to be a bust, especially since Puxatawny Phil came out last week to say Spring was around the corner. Well, we shouldn't have let our guards down because we got a doozy of a snowstorm on Sunday night! The snow started right around when the Superbowl kicked off and was off and on until about 11am on Monday morning. The result was about 10 inches of snow for us - easily the most we've gotten in our house since we moved here. School was cancelled and the girls were deliriously happy and had a marvelous time playing in the powdery snow in the morning. By the afternoon though they were pretty stir crazy and there was lots of yelling and crying in the house.  The sun is out today but the temperatures will stay below freezing. Schools are out again. The weather is forecasting below freezing temps most of the week with another possible snowstorm at the end of the week. Y

Flower power

I got an Amarylis for Christmas from a friend and we planted it in a pot right around the New Year, when we got home from LA. It took a few weeks but it is just starting to bloom. Check out how ginormo this flower got! It's as tall as Nora!
