Birthdays

Another year around the sun for us old folks! Last weekend was Celebrate Scott weekend and it was filled with fishing, biking, fishing, eating, fishing, paddle ball and oh, fishing! Can you tell what is Scott's latest obsession?  Happy birthday to Scott! This will be great for keeping him shaded while fishing! haha. I celebrated my birthday back in April and since it fell on a weekday, it wasn't super exciting but was nice nonetheless. In the morning, I joined a group of coworkers to a volunteer event where we helped clean up an urban forest in Kirkland. It was nice to be outside, enjoy their company and help the community - and thankfully it didn't rain even though I decked myself out in complete rain gear! For dinner, hot pot at home really hit the spot!  That's me in the salmon colored jacket! Weird angle of our hotpot

Aloha Time

We made our annual trip to Hawaii a few weeks ago and after 2 weeks of hanging out in paradise, I am itching to go back! Even though this trip was packed full of work getting our new place set up, we were also able to enjoy ourselves and got to share some of our favorite places with Grammie and Grandpa, who joined us for part of the trip. We went twice (once on our own, and once with the crew) and enjoyed both visits. The food/drinks are only ok, but the atmosphere can't be beat. First outing was a date night for me and Scott. My l

Delayed post: Spring Break

Ooops, we already are in May and I forgot to do writeups on all of our fun April happenings!  We had originally intended to go to Yosemite for Spring Break but given we rented a non-heated tent-cabin and there were warnings of snow and floods due to the epic weather California has been having this winter, we canceled our trip. I'm super bummed though because it's been so long since we've been (before kids!) and the weather turned out to be great! The Hanley's trip looked super fun . Maybe we can get to it next year. So, we stayed local for Spring Break and instead took a few days to explore Victoria. The last time we visited was back in 2012 when Evie was just a little wee thing. Our trip this time ended up being a really nice getaway - the weather mostly cooperated and Scott and I got to visit a few new places we hadn't been to before.  We took the ferry from Twassewan (Vancouver) over to Shwartz Bay on Vancouver Island, which is a little bit north of Victoria.
