Sleepovers at Ian's house

After we hit up Sacramento, we drove over to the Bay Area to visit with Yee Yee, Uncle Kevin and Ian for the week. Scott had to travel to DC for the week so it was really nice being able to hang out in SF instead of braving the cold weather in Seattle, alone. We had so much fun in SF!

This was Evie's first "sleepover" because she slept in Ian's room. The first night took a few trips into the room to tell the kids to quit giggling and talking and go to sleep, but sleep they did and everything worked out great.

On Monday, we made our way to the Academy of Science Museum. We originally wanted to go to the zoo but it was too dreary and cold. I'm glad we changed plans to go to the museum because it was really neat! Next time I'd love to stay longer and check out some of the other exhibits we didn't get to see like the Earthquake zone.

Albino alligator and giant turtle.
Inside the Rainforest area, there were butterflies galore! This photo doesn't really show enough of the butterflies.

Evie loved the butterflies.

Touching starfish in the aquarium area.
We also spent a lot of time just hanging out in San Rafael, checking out new restaurants and playing at the nearby parks or with all of Ian's toys. Really, these kids would find a shoebox fun because they were playing with each other. We also did a movie night but sadly, I didn't take any photos of that.

At lunch, trying out a new restaurant (forgot the name!). Evie's smile looks forced, but at least everyone is looking at the camera!

So many colorful toys to look at!

Hanging out with mama while Evie and Ian play.

What's so funny?
We really did have a wonderful time. Thanks, Hanley's, for putting up with us for a whole week!

Bye bye Ian! We'll miss you!

Happy new year!!

Goodness, it's already 2025! It's been a really long time since we posted!  We had a very lazy new year. We flew back from LA on the evening of the 31st so spent the last remaining hours of 2024 cozying up on the couch and then fell asleep before it even hit midnight! On New Years day, we slept in, cleaned up the house and then did a quick hike the next day. All in all, a good start to the year! Nora's new blanket hoodie. Cold and muddy trails. We're not in LA anymore! We hiked the Primrose trail that follows Coal Creek.

Eating on the road

With all the COVID restrictions on restaurants and Scott not liking takeout service, we've gotten pretty good at planning meals for days we are out and about. We've basically taken to tailgating... a lot! It is nice though that it means having a hot meal to warm up after a day of playing in the snow and I'm not going to lie - it is also a good excuse to eat instant noodles because it is fast and easy and warming!   For overnight stays, we end up doing instant pot meals like one-pot spaghetti or chili, or easy meals like a cheese plate or sandwiches. It does save on $ so that's definitely nice but man, I can't wait to go out to restaurants again! Beef and barley soup lunch at Mt Baker. Chillin' with Chili at Crystal Mountain. Beautiful but cold picnic in Wenatchee Little girl loving her hot ramen over Blewitt Pass Jook after sledding at Crystale Springs Chicken Noodle Soup in the snow at Salmon Ridge. Pho bowls under the ferry awning at Diablo Lake.

Glass art

We picked up our finished creations from the glass blowing class we took a few weeks ago and I think they came out great! Can you tell who made which one? Nora's sunset pumpkin, May's bluebird and Evie's snow pumpkin.
