oh man, we are so behind with posting! I was going to not post about Mother's Day because it already came and went but I needed to memorialize the day/night on our blog because it was EPIC!
First, I got to sleep because Scott and the girls made me a lovely Sausage, Tomato and Cheese Fritatta for breakfast. Then, I got to open my lovely gifts:
Many handmade cards and lots of gifts!
An original Scott Simpson cutting board
Close up of the beautiful berry bowl from Orcas Pottery.
Then, we headed over to Seattle to have some playtime and brunch with our pals Blakely and Graham. It's been a Mother's day tradition (see here and here) to hang out with the Kriegler family and we had a blast again this year. The boys made a wonderful feast and Scott even freshly squeezed grapefruit so we could have Grapefruit Mimosas! Unfortunately, no pics of the lovely spread or of the kids goofing around of of the beautiful weather that allowed us to sit outside after lunch. I'll do better next year!
Last came the best part of all - after rushing home to make a quick dinner of fried rice, we left the girls with a babysitter (our neighbor's daughter!) and went to the U2 concert! These tickets were actually my birthday gift from Scott but the concert happened to be on Mother's Day. Pretty lucky to kill 2 birds with 1 stone, eh? HAHA.
The last time we had U2 tickets, the concert was postponed because Bono was sick and the new concert date was the same day as Evie's due date! We had to sell those ticket but this more than made up for it because guaranteed that this playlist was way better than the one we missed. This was the Joshua Tour 30th Anniversary tour and they played the entire album, plus 1 new song and a few more of their biggest hits.
The sound was sometimes off (not sure if it was due to the venue, the set up, or that this was their kick off date for the tour and they just weren't tidy yet) and the stupid lights kept shining in our faces, but I had a great time. I sang and bopped along the whole time (Scott joined in occasionally).
You can't tell, but Scott had EARPLUGs!
He is turning 40 this year, after all.
Couldn't see the stage when this stupid light was on.
Goodness, it's already 2025! It's been a really long time since we posted! We had a very lazy new year. We flew back from LA on the evening of the 31st so spent the last remaining hours of 2024 cozying up on the couch and then fell asleep before it even hit midnight! On New Years day, we slept in, cleaned up the house and then did a quick hike the next day. All in all, a good start to the year! Nora's new blanket hoodie. Cold and muddy trails. We're not in LA anymore! We hiked the Primrose trail that follows Coal Creek.
We got back from our week long cruise to Alaska and ready to go again! We all had a great time but really the best part of our trip was all the family time we spent with my parents, Way and her family and Kin and his family. I think the last time we all vacationed together was back in 2015 when we all went to Kauai . It was so long ago that not all the littles had even been born yet! So yes, a big family vacay was long overdue. The kiddos loooooved spending time with their cousins, whether it was playing bingo or ping pong, or biking and hiking or just hanging out at meal time or playing mahjong. It helped that since we were all on vacation mode, we didn't push (too hard) on eating healthy or limiting screentime. It also really helped that the service on the ship was so accommodating to the kids and (pretty good) pizza, ice cream and drinks were available at all hours. I was happy with the ship we picked too. The Quantum of the Seas is nearly 20 years old (first sailed in 2014) bu...
Evie got a skateboard recently so our usual scoot and bike nights now also include her skateboarding. Here's a short video of her, Scott and Nora rolling down the street.
I had fun! What a great day for a great mommy.
