Little Evie is not so little anymore!

Happy birthday to our lovely Evie girl! This big girl turned 8 on Sunday and we had a fun-tastic birthday filled weekend of activities. On Saturday, we invited a bunch of her friends over for a jewelry making party and on Sunday, we were low key and had her favorite (fried rice) for dinner at home.

At 8 years old, Evie is a super sweet and gentle soul.  She hates scary movies and even not so scary movies like Home Alone and Moana because she gets so upset that the kids are on their own that she cries. She's pretty shy but very loyal to her friends - one of her friend's dad told me that he and his daughter, who was new to school this year, was grateful for Evie because she apparently befriend his little girl and pulled her into their friends group.

She likes listening to Podcasts like Wow in the World and Brains On, singing and dancing, drawing, and reading books. She just finished the Fudge series, which she thought was hilarious. She's still playing flute but it's a battle every day to get her to practice! Her favorite food is dumplings, fried rice and mac n cheese (the boxed kind only!). I'm also impressed that she does pretty good with oysters and clams and salmon sushi.

Evie: you are a kind, smart, and most importantly, a GOOD person who cares about others.  You fill our hearts to the brim and I hope all your wishes come true this year!

Jewelry making madness.

The girls liked carrying Nora and yelling "All hail Queen Nora!"

Happy new year!!

Goodness, it's already 2025! It's been a really long time since we posted!  We had a very lazy new year. We flew back from LA on the evening of the 31st so spent the last remaining hours of 2024 cozying up on the couch and then fell asleep before it even hit midnight! On New Years day, we slept in, cleaned up the house and then did a quick hike the next day. All in all, a good start to the year! Nora's new blanket hoodie. Cold and muddy trails. We're not in LA anymore! We hiked the Primrose trail that follows Coal Creek.

Eating on the road

With all the COVID restrictions on restaurants and Scott not liking takeout service, we've gotten pretty good at planning meals for days we are out and about. We've basically taken to tailgating... a lot! It is nice though that it means having a hot meal to warm up after a day of playing in the snow and I'm not going to lie - it is also a good excuse to eat instant noodles because it is fast and easy and warming!   For overnight stays, we end up doing instant pot meals like one-pot spaghetti or chili, or easy meals like a cheese plate or sandwiches. It does save on $ so that's definitely nice but man, I can't wait to go out to restaurants again! Beef and barley soup lunch at Mt Baker. Chillin' with Chili at Crystal Mountain. Beautiful but cold picnic in Wenatchee Little girl loving her hot ramen over Blewitt Pass Jook after sledding at Crystale Springs Chicken Noodle Soup in the snow at Salmon Ridge. Pho bowls under the ferry awning at Diablo Lake.

Glass art

We picked up our finished creations from the glass blowing class we took a few weeks ago and I think they came out great! Can you tell who made which one? Nora's sunset pumpkin, May's bluebird and Evie's snow pumpkin.
