Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, part 2

I know it's almost halfway through January, but I have to finish telling you about our awesome Christmas vacation!

So, after spending Christmas morning at Grammie and Grandpa's house, we trekked over to PohPoh and GoongGoong's house for a few nights. We typically celebrate Christmas with dinner that night after all the family has arrived into town but this year, Way and her family stayed up in SF because of the new baby and Kin took a later flight and didn't get in until late. Because of that, we had a low-key but DELISH hot pot dinner on Christmas and then did our big family Christmas dinner the day after, on the 26th! It was a bit strange, but also wonderful because for the girls, it meant many days of opening presents!

The girls did great with hot pot!

SOOOO happy with her donut the next morning.

Each kid got a pile of presents!
Evie being so helpful with opening gifts!

The next day, Tuesday, was a lazaroni morning followed by a meet up with my high school friends and their kids. We've been meeting up once a year around the holidays for as long as I can remember and it's always so much fun to catch up with everyone and see how much the kids have grown. The kids got along great, mostly thanks to a new outdoor trampoline that our friends Brian and Kathy just installed at their house.

Testing out their new gifts - a camera and binoculars.

Jump jump jump on the trampoline!

It was really hard to get a group shot of these young 'uns.

The next day, we headed back to Seattle but vacation was not over yet! The daycare that the girls go to was open all week which allowed us to drop them off and have the day to ourselves for fun stuff, like my team holiday lunch and a ski day!

Lunch at El Gaucho!

Fresh snow at Cabin Creek for some cross country skiing.

so relaxing without the kids!

The was the first time we've spent New Year's Eve here in Seattle, and we were invited over to Blakely and Graham's house for a night of shenanigans. Of course, the daddies fell asleep pretty much the same time as the kids (9-10ish) but us ladies were up gabbing until 1:30 in the morning. I can't remember the last time I stayed up to watch the ball drop. It was the most rockin' New Year's party we've been to in ages!

It rained on NYE, but when we left the Kriegler's house the next morning around 10am, there was a mix of clouds and sun over Seattle. When we pulled up to our neighborhood though, we found that it had snowed several inches over on the Eastside! We came home to a wintery wonderland and Evie immediately got to work on a building a snowman. Nora, on the other hand, stayed warm and toasty in the car and watched us play in the snow. She didn't want to come outside, but yet wanted to stay out and watch everything that was going on. Funny kid.

Is that you, Frosty?

Sledding down the driveway.

What a great way to start off 2017!

Happy new year!!

Goodness, it's already 2025! It's been a really long time since we posted!  We had a very lazy new year. We flew back from LA on the evening of the 31st so spent the last remaining hours of 2024 cozying up on the couch and then fell asleep before it even hit midnight! On New Years day, we slept in, cleaned up the house and then did a quick hike the next day. All in all, a good start to the year! Nora's new blanket hoodie. Cold and muddy trails. We're not in LA anymore! We hiked the Primrose trail that follows Coal Creek.

Eating on the road

With all the COVID restrictions on restaurants and Scott not liking takeout service, we've gotten pretty good at planning meals for days we are out and about. We've basically taken to tailgating... a lot! It is nice though that it means having a hot meal to warm up after a day of playing in the snow and I'm not going to lie - it is also a good excuse to eat instant noodles because it is fast and easy and warming!   For overnight stays, we end up doing instant pot meals like one-pot spaghetti or chili, or easy meals like a cheese plate or sandwiches. It does save on $ so that's definitely nice but man, I can't wait to go out to restaurants again! Beef and barley soup lunch at Mt Baker. Chillin' with Chili at Crystal Mountain. Beautiful but cold picnic in Wenatchee Little girl loving her hot ramen over Blewitt Pass Jook after sledding at Crystale Springs Chicken Noodle Soup in the snow at Salmon Ridge. Pho bowls under the ferry awning at Diablo Lake.

Glass art

We picked up our finished creations from the glass blowing class we took a few weeks ago and I think they came out great! Can you tell who made which one? Nora's sunset pumpkin, May's bluebird and Evie's snow pumpkin.
