Happy Halloween!

Happy (belated) Halloween! 

I'm so behind on my posts that I forgot to even post about our pumpkin patch outing! We went a few weekends ago on a sunny Sunday afternoon and the place was a zoo! I think all of Seattle took advantage of the good weather and headed to the pumpkin farms. We picked a farm that advertised having a cider press, pumpkin tossing, hay maze, a petting zoo, and a hayride. It DID have all those things but they were pretty dinky and with the hordes of people, it really just wasn't worth it for me. It was Nora's first time and she enjoyed it so I guess that's what matters!

For Halloween itself, we first started the celebration last Friday for my company's trick or treat bash. It was a pretty sad little affair because the date got moved several times so many folks didn't realize it was happening. And, since it was during 12-3pm, Evie wasn't able to make it. I brought Nora though, and like the pumpkin patch, this was her first time and she had nothing to compare it to and thought it was a blast and a half! Here she is munching away on her loot:

The day of Halloween was pretty good though. For the past 2 years, we've gone down to SF to celebrate with Ian and Owen, but since this year Halloween fell on a weekday and everyone has work/school, we stuck around here. I was worried because the girls' costumes were delicate and I didn't want any rain to ruin it but we lucked out and had a beautiful, crisp, fall day! 

Their costumes also turned out better than I expected! Evie had in her mind from the very beginning she wanted to be a peacock and we couldn't find a pre-made costume that we liked. Nora said she wanted to be a "purple mommy bird" and when we showed her a picture of a peacock, she said - yes! That's a purple mommy bird! So, I got to make both their costumes this year. One was more purple than the other, of course!

 We started off the night at our neighbor's house where all the kids (10 kids total) had some pizza and snacks and played around, and the adults relaxed with some beer and sangria. Once it got dark, off we went! We got separated from the pack because poor little Nora could not keep up with the older kids and sweet Evie wanted to stick with her sister as much as possible. They didn't seem to mind much though. Nora was so eager to get each house that she actually fell a few times and scraped her knee, but she immediately stopped crying when Scott reminded her to go to the next house for more candy!

We only went to a few houses in the neighborhood and then the girls came back and had just as much fun handing out candy. All in all, it was a good night!
