December Days

Wow! How did the weeks go by so fast? We haven't posted since Thanksgiving! Here's a quick recap to catch you up to today...

Scott and I got gussied up and went to the T-Mobile Marketing holiday party at the Museum of Pop, which was fun. Too bad I didn't get a picture of my outfit. Here's the best we could do:

Grown up night!
I can't believe that I've worked with some of these people for 10 years!
We had a playdate with Lance, aka Nora's "best friend" from school. Lance has an older sister, Loritta, who is a year younger than Evie, so a playdate with all the kids worked out well. We did gingerbread houses and the older kids were very neat and orderly while the younger kids couldn't stop eating the candy.
So much concentration!

These two crack me up.
Evie and Nora have been practicing their Christmas Carols and have been performing on this makeshift stage, with spot lighting and all. We've been trying to tell them they need to get all their moves pat so they can do a performance down in LA over the holidays!

We also checked out Enchant Christmas - this event at Safeco field that has been publicized as the largest light maze in the world! It's the first year they've done it here and while I didn't have super high hopes, it fell a little flat for me. The lights were amazing and the kids loved it, but the Christmas Market and food options were sorely lacking. I hope it's just because they didn't know what to expect this first year because they could do so so so much better. I mean, heck, the stadium already has fancy food options (Din Tai Fung! Ethan Stowell!), so why not just keep those booths open?!

SUPER TALL lighted tree. Like, mega ginormous tall.

Another highlight recently was Evie's first performance in a school musical! She asked us to sign her up for the production of Beauty and the Beast and we glad'y obliged even though we were a bit surprised. If you recall, her previous performances at school events have been only ... eh.

She was very proud that she got the part of "towns person" and "dancing dish". She did great as a villager, and then later it turned out there was some confusion backstage because she ended up being upgraded to performing as a "dancing spoon" in the Be-our-Guest scene. She definitely stood out with a big spoon on her back!

Evie is on the left side of the stage.

Happy after the performance!
On Friday, there was a big wind storm and our power blew out. I was impressed that both girls did not freak out and instead calmly went to go find the flashlights that are in the kitchen drawer. We spent the rest of the night hanging out in front of the fire and eating dinner by candlelight.

Playing cards next to the fire

So romantical!

Happy new year!!

Goodness, it's already 2025! It's been a really long time since we posted!  We had a very lazy new year. We flew back from LA on the evening of the 31st so spent the last remaining hours of 2024 cozying up on the couch and then fell asleep before it even hit midnight! On New Years day, we slept in, cleaned up the house and then did a quick hike the next day. All in all, a good start to the year! Nora's new blanket hoodie. Cold and muddy trails. We're not in LA anymore! We hiked the Primrose trail that follows Coal Creek.

Glass art

We picked up our finished creations from the glass blowing class we took a few weeks ago and I think they came out great! Can you tell who made which one? Nora's sunset pumpkin, May's bluebird and Evie's snow pumpkin.

Trick or Treat!

Halloween this year was the quietest one we've had in 13 years! This was the first one we had without the girls! Both of them went to friends houses and left Scott and I to man the door. It was very quiet at home because the doorbell rang only 4x the entire night, but at least both girls said they had a lot of fun despite it being rainy and dreary out. Thankfully, they have finally learned to not trust Seattle weather in October and chose warm(ish) costumes!
