I 💙 California, part dos

Happy to report that the car ride down from SF to Cambria (~4 hrs) didn't go too badly! Way and I had the kids with us, and we only had to make one stop to stretch legs, go potty and have a snack. The little ones fell asleep for part of the ride which was definitely helpful, because towards the end of the ride, the natives were getting restless and there was a lot of laughing, yelling and throwing things across seats. We made it to Cambria just in time for a beautiful sunset and to check out the hotel digs. I think Evie and Ian are having fun. Took advantage of the great lighting for some nice pics! Grandparents with the littles.     A picture from the papparazi angle. These kids make me so happy!  The next morning, the kids insisted on going to the beach. Moonstone beach had decent sand and waves but it was super cold and windy. We were the only ones out in our swimsuits, but the kids didn't seem to mind at all. Owen getting a hang of his stomp

I ❤ California, Part Uno

Boy, does time fly! I can't believe it's already the end of July - half of summer is gone! And, I didn't even write anything about our awesome CA adventure that kicked off our summer! So, here goes. For several years now, we've been wanting to go down to CA over the July 4th holiday to join Grammie and Grandpa in the Sierra Madre parade. We finally decided to do that this year, and had planned on driving up to see Way and the family afterwards. It turned out that Samantha and my mom were going to visit Way the weekend before July 4, and since it coincided with Ian's birthday,  we decided to reverse our plans and join them up there! It worked out great to spend the weekend exploring SF, then we took our time driving down the coast and spent 2 nights in Cambria, before making it to Sierra Madre for July 4! Our trip started off rocky. We almost missed our flight - I blame Scott for going long on a work call, then our Uber driver being EXTREMELY slow and taking

A-boating we will go!

We did our annual summer "boat camping" trip last weekend and I can say that it's getting SO much easier now that the girls are older. Before, we had to watch them like a hawk and they fussed about wearing a life jacket, but now they scamper all over the boat with ease and know that the life jacket is a must have. Plus, they're more brave about swimming in the lake which is always entertaining! We got a new floatie mat and even Nora was brave enough to jump on! Breakfast on the boat How many people can you fit on the floatie mat? We picked up some passengers on the way back!
