Happy to report that the car ride down from SF to Cambria (~4 hrs) didn't go too badly! Way and I had the kids with us, and we only had to make one stop to stretch legs, go potty and have a snack. The little ones fell asleep for part of the ride which was definitely helpful, because towards the end of the ride, the natives were getting restless and there was a lot of laughing, yelling and throwing things across seats. We made it to Cambria just in time for a beautiful sunset and to check out the hotel digs.

These kids make me so happy! |
The next morning, the kids insisted on going to the beach. Moonstone beach had decent sand and waves but it was super cold and windy. We were the only ones out in our swimsuits, but the kids didn't seem to mind at all.

Brrrrr. Chilly water! |
After lunch, we went to see the Elephant Seals that hang out on the coast, just north of Cambria. It was super windy so we only stayed long enough to see a couple of seals roll over and grunt a few times before we jumped back into the car and drove to Paso Robles for some wine tasting. We originally wanted to go to a farm to pick veggies/fruit, but it was closed. I think the kids would have enjoyed that way more than the wine tasting, but us adults didn't mind! The winery we went to, Tooth and Nail, was housed in this gigantic building shaped like a castle. This one was not as "authentic" as
the one we visited in Napa in April, but the atmosphere was way more relaxing and the wine was much better.

Longing all day on the beach in the sun sounds like a lovely way to spend an afternoon! |

The hotel we stayed at, Oceanpoint Ranch, was super kid friendly and had fun things to entertain the kids. That evening, we took advantage of the smores pits and in the morning, we tried out their pool. The kids also played cornhole, shuffleboard and some lasso games with these bull statues. There was also a gigantic connect 4 but we couldn't figure out how to get it to work.

The next morning was bittersweet because after a yummy brunch, we had to say goodbye to Yee Yee, Uncle Kevin, Ian, Owen, PohPoh and Goong Goong. We had such fun hanging out, exploring CA and can't wait to see everyone again in a few months!
