Snow days!

The weather system that was predicted to come in this week started Sunday night and dumped enough snow here that school has been cancelled for 2 days now! The girls, of course, have been ecstatic. The first storm brought in a few inches that started to melt away, but then today it snowed lightly but steadily from early AM to about 1pm and added a few more inches.  The last storm hits tonight, but supposedly will be a little more north of us so we aren't expected to get as much snow but temps will stay below freezing. This wasn't anything like the epic snowmaggedon we got last year (see here, and then here, and lastly here) that lasted in total about a week, but it's still been a fun start to the season!

Checking out the snow outside

We walked over the park but it was kinda slushy and muddy

Evie was such a good sport pulling Nora on the way back from the park.

The view from our bedroom window this morning
The girls had to keep themselves occupied while they waited for Scott and I to get off work to join them outside. I shouldn't have patted myself on the back too early about how well they played on their own though because guess what I spotted on Evie? Check out her pic!! She played dumb and then said that she did it last week but she's a terrible liar and I could tell she was embarrassed. What a silly girl!

Kinds of Audrey-Hepburn-esque, right?

Happy new year!!

Goodness, it's already 2025! It's been a really long time since we posted!  We had a very lazy new year. We flew back from LA on the evening of the 31st so spent the last remaining hours of 2024 cozying up on the couch and then fell asleep before it even hit midnight! On New Years day, we slept in, cleaned up the house and then did a quick hike the next day. All in all, a good start to the year! Nora's new blanket hoodie. Cold and muddy trails. We're not in LA anymore! We hiked the Primrose trail that follows Coal Creek.

1 week checkup

We took Nora to her one week check up today and guess what? We have a porker on our hands! She weighed in at a whopping 6 lbs. 5.5 oz. That's 2.5 oz more than her birth weight! They want the baby to be back at birth weight within 2 weeks so she beat that milestone pretty handily. Hooray! So far, she's been better than Evie at eating (she doesn't take nearly as long, although she falls asleep VERY often) but she's not as good as Evie at pooping. Poor thing always seems to have tummy issues - she's very squirmy and fussy when she doesn't burp or poop. The doc doesn't think it's a big problem though since she still has lots of wet diapers, but we'll have to keep a better eye on it now. We'll have another doctor check up (with shots!) next week.

Apple tasting

Over the weekend we popped into the free Apple Tasting and Cider Making at the Orcas Island Historical Museum and it was amazing! There had to have been 30+ varieties and all of them can be found locally on the island. We had a lot of fun sampling away, tasting new varieties that I've never even heard of like Albermarle Pippin or Kennebec or early Fuji or Ashmael Kernel. I hope they do this again next year. Who wants to go with us?
