Birthdays galore

I've been very impressed with the recent slate of parties that Nora has been invited to. They aren't your typical bouncy house or run around the yard type event. These have been much more civilized, ladylike affairs.

First was a "spa party" where the girls got to do a foot soak, hand scrub, sparkly manicure, makeup and dress up in princess dresses. Us moms even got in on the action with a hand scrub and parafin wax treatment while sipping cocktails!

Then we went to a birthday tea at this super cute new-to-us tea parlor in Issaquah. The girls donned Unicorn headbands while sipping their own pot of tea (or cocoa, in Nora's case!) and eating cookies, scones and tiny sandwiches (choice of cheese, jam, and nutella).

Super fancy, right? Makes me worried about what she's going to want to do for her own party this year!

Soaking their smelly feet in warm water scented with oils.

Princess outfits

The secret to sparkly nail polish is to add real glitter!

Getting sparkly eye shadow, blush and lip gloss.
All done!

  1. Fancy! She must've loved those parties!

Btw, these are in COMPLETE opposite of the type of parties Ian goes to. The boy parties are rowdy and the kids get all sweaty being active. The last ones he went to were at a trampoline jump parks, indoor batting cage/baseball fields, and a laser tag arena.

Happy new year!!

Goodness, it's already 2025! It's been a really long time since we posted!  We had a very lazy new year. We flew back from LA on the evening of the 31st so spent the last remaining hours of 2024 cozying up on the couch and then fell asleep before it even hit midnight! On New Years day, we slept in, cleaned up the house and then did a quick hike the next day. All in all, a good start to the year! Nora's new blanket hoodie. Cold and muddy trails. We're not in LA anymore! We hiked the Primrose trail that follows Coal Creek.

Cousins trip: Banff!

Just 2 weeks ago I was in the beautiful town of Banff enjoying girl time with my cousins and taking in the picturesque landscape and now I'm holed up in front of my computer doing work. Oh how I wish I could go back! This was my second trip to Banff (first time was back in 2019 on a roadtrip with the family ) and I got to check out other parts of this beautiful National Park while laughing it up with these girls to celebrate Frances' big birthday..  We all met up at Calgary airport on Friday morning and after a quick lunch at Calan Noodles for hand-made beef noodle soup (yum!), we hopped in our rental car and drove the 90 minutes to Banff. I was surprised and impressed at how easy the drive was - even easier than driving to Whistler because of the wide and well maintained freeway.  That first afternoon in Banff we walked around town and did some shopping before making our way to Brazen, a bistro serving "Modern Canadian" fare. What's Modern Canadian you ask? We di...

Glass art

We picked up our finished creations from the glass blowing class we took a few weeks ago and I think they came out great! Can you tell who made which one? Nora's sunset pumpkin, May's bluebird and Evie's snow pumpkin.
