We're here!! Big Island trip Day 1

Our Hawaii trip is FINALLY here!!! We booked this trip back during the holidays when there was a big airfare sale going on. The fares were too good to miss out on (<$300 R/T!) plus the cancellation policy was very flexible so we figured why not book it and if we need to cancel, we can do so. I'm glad we didn't cancel it because now we are here and it is glorious! Our flight left Seattle at 8:45 so we were out the door by 6:30am. No one needed to be prodded because we were so excited to be on our way. The flight over was probably about 2/3 full, with most middle rows empty. Nora was my seat buddy for most of the trip, while Daddy and Evie took the other side of the aisle. We wiped down our seats and tray table with a clorox wipe and then watched movies and read on the flight and before we knew it, we were here!  Btw, we all did our COVID tests 72 hours before departure (we are all negative), and then because our 14 day period after our 2nd vaccine shot haven't completed y

Spring fashion

This was Nora's outfit the other day. I just had to take a picture of the swimsuit, plus Hawaii shorts and ski socks. Very snazzy! BTW, you might be wondering how warm it was for her to want to wear this? It was probably about 75 out.

April trip to Leavenworth/Chelan

A few weekends ago, we took a last minute trip to Leavenworth and the Lake Chelan area to look at some properties that Scott and Edmond have been interested in.  We ran into a small hiccup when we set out on Saturday morning because a huge snowstorm was breaking over the mountain pass and it made for a very slow drive. It was a very late spring storm and no one was ready for it. The roads over Snoqualamie pass were atrocious - they didn't have the snow plows out yet and folks were sliding all over the place. Even though it clearly said in flashing lights and signs everywhere that chains or AWD required, so many people didn't heed the warnings and their slipping and sliding caused accidents left and right. Thankfully we made it through without any issues, and before they closed down the pass. Our friends, Edmond and Kathy, got stuck in the closure for several hours waiting for the storm to pass and the roads to clear. Once over the pass, we drove straight to Lake Chelan. It was

42

I turned 42 on Monday and since my birthday was on a Monday, that meant that we actually spent the ENTIRE WEEKEND celebrating my birthday. Score! :) In actuality, I got my second COVID vaccine on Saturday which put a bit of a damper on the entire weekend because I felt pretty miserable on Sunday and Monday. But, I was still able to squeeze in a walk through the Rhodedendron gardens, some hotpot, and some sunshine. All in all, not a super exciting birthday but I'm grateful for another year around the sun with good health, and my family's good health all, so I can't really complain.  Oh but Scott did also get me a piano, and so far, that's been pretty neat!  Nora took this video/photo of me getting my shot! Afterwards, we went to the Rhodendron gardens and the kids stopped long enough for me to take a picture. My Chocolate Mousse cake! Birthday morning presents! Birthday lunch - Korean ramen bowl. It was a hectic day at work so I made something fast that I can slurp up be

Nora-o-latern

Nora just lost ANOTHER tooth even though two of her other missing ones have not yet grown back. Now she has lots of holes in her smile to poke a straw through!

Spring is in the air

We're finally get a few good days of sunshine here and there and you can feel spring in the air! There's been a lot more outdoor play and riding scooters in the evening, which has been nice. Plus, some bonus easter egg photos. Flowers from our pear tree 3 kinds of tulips in the bundle I got from TJs! Evie calls these "yellers" because they look like they are shouting, haha. Who laid the golden egg? Marble madness

Vaccine one done!

Hip hip hooray! I got my first vaccine shot on Saturday! (hey, that rhymes!) I went back to Lumen Field to get my shot and just as I had observed, the process ran very smoothly. The longest I had to wait was just to get in the building, but mainly that was because I brought my purse with me and so stood in the security line to get my bag checked. The guy checking was SO SLOW, asking everyone to take things out of their bags etc. After that, it was super smooth sailing. The volunteer checking me in was very friendly and said she saw that I had volunteered recently and so thanked me for my service. Then, it was a quick jab in the arm and we were done. With the observation time, I think I was in and out within 20 minutes. Since it was the first sunny Saturday in a long time, afterwards we grabbed sandwiches at a nearby Carribean sandwich shop that had great patio seating and then walked across the street to get a free Krispy Kreme donut! It was a really good morning!  My arm felt super so
