Glasses

Nora got glasses! Now all of us in the family are four-eyes, haha. Her prescription is low but she was super excited about getting these. When she is older and hates glasses, I'll have to remind her how happy she was to get these!

Mom and Nora date

While Evie was at an event today, Nora and I had a mommy-daughter date! We went to a nearby cidery where I got a hot mulled cider and Nora got a root beer, and then we did some crafting to make rainbow loom pencil toppers. It was a really nice time!  That's my girl! We sat by the window so we could see all the action outside. We made a lollipop pencil charm. and a pencil pencil charm! Remond Town Center is all decorated for the holidays. Me and my baby! The lights were really pretty.

Evie's first dance

Milestone reached! Evie went to her first dance. It was a district wide dance held at the Issaquah Community Center and after some heming and hawing, Evie decided to go with some friends. She came back with no voice because she said she was singing and dancing so hard. I think that's a sign of a great time!

Thanksgiving in Whistler

I can't believe it's already December! We've been rocking around our Christmas tree for almost a month already but before we get to Christmas, first, we have to celebrate Thanksgiving. For Thanksgiving this year, we decided to go to Whistler. It's been a while since we've been - the last time we were there was back in 2018 when we went with the Mackies, and last time we went for Thanksgiving was back in 2008 , before any kids were born. It's not a holiday in Canada so Thanksgiving weekend isn't usually crowded, but it is opening weekend and hit-or-miss with snow. Our ski pass this year gave us opening weekend as a free weekend that didn't count against our pass days so we couldn't pass the opportunity!  We booked a condo with our friends, the Wongs, that had a fantastic location - it was only a few feet from the Whistler lift. The downside is that it was a bit noisy but the space was just big enough for us to have Thanksgiving dinner. Our friends, E

Finished blanket

We finally finished Nora's blanket - it took 6 skeins, several hours (maybe 3?) and more money than you'd think, but it's a pretty hefty, soft, warm blanket. Here she is with it over the weekend, and it has since found it way onto our bed where Scott uses it while he reads his fishing books!

Quick trip to Hawaii

A few weeks back, I took advantage of awesome flight deals ($215 r/t!!) and jetted off to Hawaii for a girls trip with 2 other lovely ladies. Despite having to work remotely the whole time there because work has been so hectic, visiting Hawaii is always a treat and it was blissful to bask in the warmth  of the sand and sun at the end of the day.  We've been so many times now that there aren't a ton of new beaches nearby to try out, but I did get to try lots of new restaurants, especially on the Hilo side. I can't wait to go back and take Scott and the girls to some of them!  Here's some highlights from the trip: - Lava Lava Beach Club: I hate to admit it when Scott is right, but yep, this is a good place. Food is not stellar but you can't beat the view and vibe for the price. It's the epitome of vacation. Even after trying a few other beach-front restaurants, I go back to this one being a go-to.  - Hawaii Vanilla Farm: The farm is off the beaten path, way up in

hand knitting

Nora hand-knitted me a blanket for my birthday and then set that hobby aside for a while. Now that its cold outside, she's been taking it up again. And, after watching some YouTube videos, she also got Evie and I interested too! We've been spending some quality time together listening to music and hand knitting. It's satisfying, and who knows - you might get a handmade gift for Christmas this year!  Starting her blanket. Evie getting the hang of it. Her hat looks like a mushroom! My finished hat! A little bulky, but cute.
